Owen, 12 days new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

This cutie is my nephew (who is now a full grown toddler) and I’m just now getting to blogging his newborn session! The first thing you’ll notice about Owen is his gorgeous head full of red hair! All 4 of my babies were pretty much bald until they were 2 years old, so I was OBSESSED with his hair! Also, he was Aunt Jen’s model for several days, so I got lots and lots of photos, of course.

For all of my clients, I love incorporating personal elements into their newborn sessions. Sometimes, that means using items like a handmade blanket or family heirloom. Other times, we add personal touches like Owen’s Ramses stuffy (my sister is a UNC alum) and his cute fishing setup (his dad and grandpa are avid fisherman).

I may be biased, but I do think Owen is one of the most adorable babies ever 🩵

S. Family | Oak Island Photographer

The S. family was such a sweet group to photograph! I met them during their vacation on Oak Island, which is my hometown, so it’s always so fun to have sessions there! Of course, the two beautiful daughters/granddaughters were the stars of the show and they were big fans of the beach. It had rained the entire day and then cleared up right before our session, so we got a gorgeous cotton candy sky as our backdrop.

Here are some of my favorites from my time with this precious family:

Antonia, 9 days new | Wilmington NC Newborn Photographer

Antonia’s first ever photoshoot was a short and sweet swaddled newborn session! These sessions consist of wrapped only images, so baby is usually super sleepy and relaxed the entire time. For Antonia, we incorporated feminine elements, such as florals, lace, and ruffles, as well as s festive holiday set up. She was an adorable little lady and just simply perfection 💓

K. Family | Holden Beach Photographer

As a mom of 4 kids ages 10 and under, I hear the phrase “just wait until they’re teenagers!” all the time. I’m very much a baby/toddler person, so I am a bit nervous for the teen years, but sometimes I meet families who ease my worries. The K. family consisted of mom, dad, and their three teenagers. These kids were so sweet and you could tell the family was very close knit. They had so much fun together during our session on Holden Beach. I actually left feeling excited about having teens in a few years (and they listened/followed directions better than my little ones, ha!)

Shae, 11 days new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

Shae was such a tiny, sweet nugget during his newborn session! I love how, no matter how small, you can always see at least a few rolls and squishiness on these adorable babies. Shae had the cutest little features, such as his button nose and expressive eyebrows.

Color-wise, we focused on neutrals, blues, and greens for Shae’s session. I love incorporating tiny props, like the sleepy hats and stuffed teddy you see in his photos. Over the last 8+ years, I’ve collected a huge amount of props, outfits, hats, headbands, etc. and one of my favorite aspects of newborn sessions is planning and styling for each individual baby.

Here are some of my favs from Shae’s newborn session.
