Sage, 9 days new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

This gorgeous girl had a head FULL of hair! My own babies were pretty much bald until at least two years old, so I love when I get to photograph a baby with a lot of hair! Sage was definitely one of those babies!

I also photographed Sage’s sister Avery a few years ago. I adore being able to watch a family grow through the years- it means so much when I get an email from a parent letting me know that another sweet baby will be joining their family soon!

Delilah, 7 days new | Wilmington NC Newborn Photographer

One of the best parts about being a photographer in the same area where I’m from is that I get to photograph childhood friends’ babies! There’s something so special about literally growing up with someone and then a decade or two later, I get to snuggle their newborn!

I went to high school with both of Delilah’s parents and her mom and I were good friends! She chose the swaddled newborn session option, which is always a favorite. We can get several set ups in less time because baby stays wrapped for the entire session (which means they also typically stay nice and sleepy). For Delilah’s session, we incorporated several personal items, like a handmade pillow and a sweet, tiny bracelet.

Nyla, 5 weeks new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

I will always say that I get to photograph the most gorgeous babies ever and Nyla definitely proves that! She was an angel of a baby during her in-home newborn session. I think she woke up maybe twice for a quick feed and then she fell right back asleep.

A lot of parents worry that their newborn might not cooperate during the session. I want to reassure you that 98% of the time, we get the sweet, sleepy shots! Sometimes, babies will fight sleep for the first little bit, but almost always, they give in while I work my magic. I’ve been doing this over 8 years now, photographing hundreds of newborns, so I have some tried and true techniques to get babes calm and peaceful for their session.

G. Gamily | Ocean Isle Beach Photographer

I met the G. family during their vacation on Ocean Isle Beach. As you’ll see, the main star of the show was the first grandchild of the family! Little Owen was just the most adorable toddler and such a ham for the camera!

One of the most common questions I receive when a family books a session is “what should we wear?!” I think this family did such an amazing job coordinating their outfits. I always suggest choosing 3-4 colors and instead of matching completely, coordinate within those colors. Limit patterned items and utilize solids to avoid clashing. Most importantly, find something you’re comfortable in!

Isabelle, 21 days new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

As I was just organizing this blog post, I realized that Isabelle’s session had almost every color of the rainbow! Her mom said “I trust you! Do your thing!” on her preferences questionnaire, so I incorporated some colors I rarely get to use, such as yellow. She’s so adorable that I think anything is “her color.”
