K. Family | Bald Head Island Photographer

This evening on Bald Head Island was absolutely beautiful! We had some amazing golden light (optimal starting time is about an hour before sunset to get the perfect lighting) and of course, a super photogenic and fun family!

The K. family reached out to get some updated family portraits during their vacation on Bald Head Island. BHI is one of my favorite local spots because it’s nice and secluded. Even during peak tourist season, it’s easy to find a quiet spot on the beach away from anyone else. And of course, the lighthouse “Old Baldy” had to make an appearance.

Brody, 25 days new | Wilmington NC Newborn Photographer

I enjoyed Brody’s newborn session so much! He was an absolute doll and his parents were the best as well! One of my favorite parts of newborn sessions is meeting new parents and getting to know their family a bit.

Mom requested neutrals, blues, and greens for Brody’s and those were amazing choices. He had the most perfect features, like his dark blonde hair and pouty lips. We also took some family shots in their gorgeous living room!

Brody was about 3.5 weeks old at the time of his session. The unoffical “rule” for newborn photography is less than two weeks old (because babies become less flexible for posing and more alert, etc), but for me, it’s usually not an issue until close to 5-6 weeks. If you haven’t scheduled newborn photos for whatever reason and baby is a bit older than two weeks, I’ve got you! We may not get every pose, but we’ll get some great shots!

Odhran, 11 days new | Wilmington NC Newborn Photographer

Odhran had the most adorable cheeks and back rolls that I had the honor of photographing (and that chin dimple!). His parents requested blues, greens, and neutrals for his newborn session and I was happy to oblige.

Odhran slept through almost his entire session and gave me the best snuggles in between sets! I also enjoyed his wispy hair that liked to stand straight up unless we “styled” it back down, especially after a hat/accessory change. He is just perfection 💙

L. Family | Oak Island Photographer

I absolutely adore photographing families on the beach, especially my hometown of Oak Island. Growing up, I certainly took living at the beach for granted, but later on, I realized I was so lucky to live where many people vacation.

This sweet family wanted to document their trip, especially with three kiddos who love the beach! After we got some group shots, we let the little ones play and enjoy the sand and water. I always like to take some relaxed, unposed shots at the end of sessions, which captures authentic memories. Even the littlest nugget gave me the best smile, so I think he’s a fan of the beach as well!

Savannah, 10 days new | Wilmington Newborn Photographer

Savannah was a breathtakingly beautiful baby girl! Her mama requested mermaid themed items and living at the beach, I was prepared! We used some seashell props, an adorable mermaid outfit, and lots of gorgeous sea-foam green. We also incorporated a floral piece that mom wore at her wedding, which is always so special.

I have an enormous amount of props, blankets, outfits, headbands, etc that I’ve collected over the years, so don’t feel like you need to purchase anything unless it’s something specific and special you’d like to incorporate. I’ve had many clients use blankets that grandma has knitted, items from their wedding, family heirlooms, and/or personalized items ❤️
