T. Family | Kure Beach Family Photographer

This gorgeous family all met up in Kure Beach and wanted to capture this special time together. As you can probably tell, the sweet grandbabies stole the show! After we got a few “posed” portraits out of the way, I had the little ones play as everyone else interacted with them organically. The last photo of this session is one of my absolute favorites of all time!

T. Family | Ocean Isle Beach Photographer

This beautiful family traveled to Ocean Isle Beach for their beach vacation and I was honored to take some updated photos for them! The T. Family consisted of grandparents, three adult children/spouses, and three grandchildren (the little matching dresses were perfect!). I adore extended family sessions because of all of the connection I’m able to capture. I always try to get all the combos, such as the entire group, each individual family, grandparents with grandchildren, cousins together, adult siblings, etc.

Here are some of my favs from this sweet session:

K. Family | Bald Head Island Photographer

This evening on Bald Head Island was absolutely beautiful! We had some amazing golden light (optimal starting time is about an hour before sunset to get the perfect lighting) and of course, a super photogenic and fun family!

The K. family reached out to get some updated family portraits during their vacation on Bald Head Island. BHI is one of my favorite local spots because it’s nice and secluded. Even during peak tourist season, it’s easy to find a quiet spot on the beach away from anyone else. And of course, the lighthouse “Old Baldy” had to make an appearance.

L. Family | Oak Island Photographer

I absolutely adore photographing families on the beach, especially my hometown of Oak Island. Growing up, I certainly took living at the beach for granted, but later on, I realized I was so lucky to live where many people vacation.

This sweet family wanted to document their trip, especially with three kiddos who love the beach! After we got some group shots, we let the little ones play and enjoy the sand and water. I always like to take some relaxed, unposed shots at the end of sessions, which captures authentic memories. Even the littlest nugget gave me the best smile, so I think he’s a fan of the beach as well!

S. Family | Holden Beach Photographer

This session was such a fun one! It included 17 family members all gathering at Holden Beach for vacation. The proud grandparents have 3 adult children/spouses and 9 grandchildren that ranged in age from 2 to 13 (including 4 preschool aged little boys!).

Having been a preschool teacher in my previous life and being a mom of 4, I know getting little ones to cooperate for photos can be a challenge. I do have a few tricks I’ve discovered over the years. Sometimes it takes kids a bit to warm up and that’s okay! Usually there are other combos/shots we can do while they get their wiggles out. I also try to work pretty quickly because I know we have a limited attention span with most kids.

The best compliments I receive are from parents who say “this was so easy!” I do try to make it a painless process from beginning to end!
