G. Gamily | Ocean Isle Beach Photographer

I met the G. family during their vacation on Ocean Isle Beach. As you’ll see, the main star of the show was the first grandchild of the family! Little Owen was just the most adorable toddler and such a ham for the camera!

One of the most common questions I receive when a family books a session is “what should we wear?!” I think this family did such an amazing job coordinating their outfits. I always suggest choosing 3-4 colors and instead of matching completely, coordinate within those colors. Limit patterned items and utilize solids to avoid clashing. Most importantly, find something you’re comfortable in!

I met this gorgeous family during their vacation on Bald Head Island and the golden hour vibes did not disappoint that evening! The S. family contacted me to get some updated portraits. Their kids were 9 and 3 (the sweetest siblings!) and were rock stars during the session. I know they made mom so happy, especially with some of the individual and sibling shots.

Bald Head Island has some of the best spots of our area beaches. It’s secluded and has amazing lighting and beautiful dune grass, which makes a super pretty backdrop.

Extended family sessions have a special place in my heart! So often, the families I meet are separated by several states and meet up at the beach for a vacation. Sometimes, it’s been months or even years since they’ve all been together. They reach out for a session to document this time and these special memories. I always feel honored to play a small part in their time at the beach!

The J. Family consisted of grandparents, three adult children/spouses, and five grandchildren. They were such a sweet, fun group to photograph and the absolute cutest kids (shout out to the tractor that had to make an appearance with a certain three year old!).

B. Family | Oak Island Photographer

I love meeting so many families vacationing at our local beaches! This session was at my hometown- Oak Island! The family included an adorable little one year old, his parents, and grandparents. I’m in love with mom’s gorgeous green dress and baby C’s adorable pumpkin outfit!

Parents can sometimes be a little worried about how babies will react to a photo session, which is why I try to take a relaxed approach. Some babies are not a fan of the sand or the loud waves or can become overstimulated quickly. I take the little ones’ lead and they usually warm up after a few minutes. The unplanned, candid photos can be some of the best. We got some sweet faces and fun shots with this little guy!

The G. family has been vacationing on Bald Head Island for years and I had the honor of photographing them in one of their favorite places! With two sweet daughters and a fur baby in tow, we took a nice golf cart ride to a gorgeous area on Bald Head. It was golden hour and the lighting was perfection. Everyone was on their best behavior, including Jingle the dog.

For many families I meet, our area beaches are their unofficial second home. They come year after year and create amazing memories with their kids, grandchildren, pets, etc. I absolutely love being a small part of these special vacations and providing family photos that will be cherished for years!
